An increasing number of reports from around New Zealand involving incidents associated with look-alike or sound-alike products prompted DHBNZ SQM group to hold a workshop to bring together manufacturers, regulators, funders and users. This was held in June and the workshop minutes are now available. One of the outcomes from the workshop was an offer by Medsafe to form an expert advisory group on the labelling and packaging of medicines. A review by the government of all advisory groups and committees has meant that this group can not proceed and Medsafe are now developing "best practice" guidelines relating to the labelling and packaging of medicines.
